Natural triglycerides are usually containing unsaturated fatty acids. These unsaturations react with hydrogen in order to form fully saturated triglycerides. The main physical consequence is an increase of the solidification point to about 60°C for most triglycerides and about 85 °C for castor oil. The chemical consequence is an increase of oxidation stability. The global result being the production of waxy solids.
