Construction of new plant in Malaysia

Oleon has made the decision in 2007 to start building an industrial ester plant in the heart of the palm oil oleo-chemistry: Malaysia. The 3 hectare site of the factory is strategically located near the major deep-sea port of Malaysia, Port Klang at around 70km from the capital Kuala Lumpur. The plant will start with one reactor in which larger volumes of esters will be produced mainly for the lubricants market, complementary to the factory in Oelegem.

Starting in January 2007 with the in-depth selection process of the reactor builder, the Malaysian engineering office and contractor, the construction works of the plant started on March 15, 2008. Start-up of the plant is estimated around January 31, 2009. The plant will employ around 35 people.
