Oleon produces and supplies the very first Belgian biodiesel to Total Germany

Oleon produces the first Belgian biodiesel

Biodiesel is a methylester, based on vegetable oils, in this case rapeseed oil. Oleon is producing at his Ertvelde’s plant amongst others, yearly about 40.000 tons of the same kind of methylesters, but based on palm and coco’s oil, which are aimed for detergents and personal care formulations. The present 300 tons production supplied to Total was made on this production unit and is the first one produced on Belgian ground.

Investment of 16 mio euro in a new industrial unit

Oleon wishes to be a long-term player on the biofuel market and will invest about 16 Mio Euro for a new installation at his Ertvelde’s production facility. This new unit will perfectly fit to the actual activities and will be able to use the existing industrial and logistic set-up in an efficient manner. It will also result in the direct creation of about 15 jobs, but also have a positive influence in the rapeseed oil supply chain.

Geographical strong situation of Oleon
Aside of the well-known expertise in his field as well as the perfomance of his installations, Oleon enjoys the benefit of his ideal situation, along the Ghent-Terneuzen channel. Easy communications within and outside of the country are indeed essential for a successful achievement of such kind of project (a.o. for supply of the rapeseed oil).
