Oleon produces and supplies the very first Belgian biodiesel to Total Germany
Growing potential for biofuels
Oleon believes firmly in a growing market for biodiesel. It is already decided at European level that every road traffic has to use 2% of biofuel (meaning 110.000 tons) before end of 2005, and this ratio has rise until 5.75% (meaning 330.000 tons) before end of 2010.
Total supplies biofuels to the german and french petrol stations
The European leader for biofuels Total is already supplying biogasoline and biodiesel for distribution in a.o. german and french pump stations. This is however not yet the case in Belgium. The Belgian authorities have already announced some adaptation of taxes on biofuels, but the terms and conditions of applicability are still to be defined.
Total Belgium is preparing for biodiesel
Total has earlier this year already made some investment in order to generate ETBE (the raw material for the production of biogasoline) at its Antwerp’s oil refinery. This has led first to the production of 100.000 tons of ETBE, but this will now be extended to a yearly production capacity of approx. 180.000 tons. Total also invests in his largest Belgian depot, located in Feluy (south of Brussels) to reach the required blending capacity to produce 500.000 tons of “endconsumer’s” biodiesel.
