The group SOFIPROTEOL acquires 100% of the Belgian oleochemical group Oleon


Sofiprotéol has been investing for about 20 years in the development of oleochemicals, a growing market due to regulatory requirements as well as the strong demand for renewable and biodegradable products. The group Sofiprotéol strengthens with this acquisition its development in the area of biomass chemicals in which it is already present at national level with its subsidiary Novance (held by Diester Industrie) based in Venette, Compiègne (France).

This transaction will allow Oleon to join a group present on the entire oilseeds sector – from grain to all its end products – and strongly engaged in the development of oleochemistry. It also reinforces the strategy of diversification and international development implemented by Oleon to strengthen its position among European leaders on the global oleochemical market.

The transaction is expected to be finalized in the beginning of 2009, after the approval of the European competition authorities.

The contracting parties shall not disclose the value of the acquisition.
