Currently, there are more than 12,000 Orang Asli families in Malaysia are in need of housing aids. And, many of them still live in dilapidated shelters/shacks and poor housing conditions.

Oleon Malaysia has collaborated with EPIC Homes (website: to build a home for an Orang Asli (indigenous people) family in Batang Kali, Selangor, one of the states in Peninsular Malaysia over a weekend in early August 2015.

EPIC which stands for “Extraordinary People Impacting Community” is an initiative by a non-profit social organisation to bring changes in improving the lives of Orang Asli in Malaysia. Through collaboration and volunteerism, new homes for Orang Asli are constructed and prefabricated in different modular forms (4, 6 and 8) which each module is measured in 100sqf are combined based on each recipients’ family size. This idea of building a modular home is one where sections of the home or rooms can be easily moved and extended when the family size gets larger.

Jief and his wife, Chumi are the recipients of this 4-modular home built by Oleon Malaysia, which is the 65th home under the EPIC Homes project. The house comprises of 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 kitchen and 1 foyer. Oleon Malaysia joined forces with its business associates who joined and rendered support to this event by building the house from scratch. There are total 34 volunteers of employees and business associates came together for a good cause and took 2.5 days to finish the build in a record time, which a standard 4-module build would take 3 full days to complete.

Oleon Malaysia will continue in its endeavour to drive social responsibility in impacting the lives of underprivileged groups.
