UM and Oleon sign MOA on Bio Lubricant Research

University of Malaya (UM) and Oleon Sdn Bhd (Oleon) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to jointly carry out research work on a project for ester based bio lubricants for specialty applications. The signing ceremony was held on the 16th of April 2014 at the Chancellery Building, University of Malaya.

The project spanning 2 years will build on Oleon's expertise in bio lubricants and the research and testing capabilities of the NANOCAT Research Center in University Malaya to formulate and validate the effectiveness of ester based bio lubricant for specialty applications.

NANOCAT was the partner of choice for OLEON in lieu of its world class state of the art facilities as well having researchers with strong track record in the field of collaborative research. University of Malaya’s Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Amin Jallaludin said that the signing was a testimony to the confidence that international industries have in UM’s research and technological capabilities.

At the same time The Managing Director of Oleon Sdn Bhd Mr. James de Caluwe said "This research project in collaboration with University Malaya is another confirmation of Oleon's belief in the region, Malaysia in particular, to grow our presence. Building on the knowledge of Oleon, University Malaya and NANOCAT, we hope to provide our Asian customers with a better support and tailored solutions."

The documents were signed by Prof Amin on behalf of UM and by Mr James De Caluwe the managing director of Oleon Sdn Bhd witnessed by the CEO of InvestKL, Mr Zainal Amanshah, Prof Dr Awang Bulgiba the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UM and Prof Sharifah Bee, the director of NANOCAT.
